Where the Sidewalk Ends

Where the Sidewalk Ends
   By: Shel Silverstein

Where The Sidewalk Ends is a book about poetry. It has over 200 poems in the book! I love the words he uses. For this book I would recommend this book for people over the age of 7 or 8 because it has a couple of long poems that can be challenging for that age.

I would like to give this book a..................... 4 1/2! Like I said, it still as a couple of challenging words or is to long for 7 and 8 year olds. THIS BOOK ROOKS! READ IT!!!

Magic Tree House: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Magic Tree House: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
This Magic Tree House book is the first one ever made. Jack and Anne are brother and sister and they live in FrogCcreek! They walk into the forest of frog creek and find a tree house! They go up the rope latter too see what was up in the tree house. Jack finds a big pile of books and Anne finds books about different places. Jack opens one of the books and the tree house starts spinning around and around and they come to a stop. Anne looks out the window, "Jack, I think we are in dino land.''
Jack looks out the window and sees that there are a lot of different dinosaurs out in the wide plains. They kept trying all the books in the tree house and they found no books on how to get back home.

I naturally think that this book is good for the 1st- 2nd graders would love these books. I loved them when I was in 1st grade. I also liked reading them before bed to get my creativeness flowing.

I, Layne, think this book gets a ... 5!!! This book is so AWESOME too read that it had to get a 5. It was a book you could pull out and dig into.

Introducing Ryan, Spilling Ink Guest Contributer

Two people I really admire are Seth, in my class, and my dad. Seth is very generous and willing to do everything for his friends. My dad is really funny and it's hard to get him upset. They are both very self confident and cheer others to success, no matter what.
If you mix them together, you would get my mom. Although, I am not saying that my mom is better than them. She's giving and funny. She's also self confident, believes in others, and you can't get her upset very easily.
I think my mom is also very observant. For instance... one time she was walking down the street and a man handed her a sealed carton and says "Don't let anything happen to this". She has the ability to observe or investigate.

Hugo Cabret

                                                                    Hugo Cabret
Hugo Cabret is about a little boy that lives in the walls of a train station and fixes the clocks. Hugo loves to make little machines with left over parts from his old robots.
I like Hugo Cabret because it is full of mystery and intrigue!
In the story, Hugo finds an automaton, which is a robot that can write and draw old movie picture. He can even sign the artist's name at the bottom. The picture looks like a real person did it in the first place!
On a scale of 1-5 I would give it a....... 4 because it was a little sad when the automaton did not start to work.
Everyone should read Hugo Cabret because you will find out how you would live inside a train station with barly any food and barly any space to sleep, live, and eat. ( when you have food)

Hello book lovers,

Welcome to our brand new blog! I am so excited for you all to be joining our outstanding 3rd graders at WSES! We absolutely adore reading in our class! Our class goal this year is to read 2,000 books and we are already at 1,154 books in February! We have some outstanding readers who want to share their love of books with all of you. My fabulous students will be using this blog to write reviews for books they are reading and to share anything that they might find interesting about their books. We may even occasionally have a guest author from our class writing club! We truly believe that literature is our utopia and we hope that you can join in our perfect place too!

Sincerely,
Miss Radka
WSES 3rd grade teacher
